Navigate the Skies with Premium Travel InsightsAir France Introduces New Signature Scent in Lounges Worldwide
Jan 17, 2025The name AF001 pays homage to the flight number of Air France's legendary Concorde service, which once linked New York and Paris. The fragrance itself is described as a blend of comforting musk, mimosa from southern France, and floral hints of jasmine and rose, evoking a sense of warmth and elegance.
Kurkdjian, a renowned figure in the world of perfumery, has collaborated with luxury brands such as Dior, Guerlain, and Armani. Reflecting on his inspiration for AF001, Kurkdjian noted it symbolizes "the illusion of a ray of sunshine on the wings of an aircraft," aligning with Air France’s identity as a connector of people and places.
A Gradual Rollout
The signature scent is now present in the entrance areas of several Air France lounges at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. These include lounges in Terminals 2E (halls L and M), 2F, and 2G, as well as the airline’s prestigious La Première suites. Plans are underway to introduce AF001 to other lounges in Paris and across the airline’s global network over the coming months.
Enhancing the Passenger Experience
This development comes as part of Air France’s broader efforts to elevate its premium travel offerings. Later this winter, the airline is set to unveil a revamped La Première cabin, which promises to redefine long-haul luxury. According to Air France, the new cabin will feature the longest configuration on the market, offering three modular settings: a seat, a sofa, and a fully flat bed.
A Growing Trend in Airline Hospitality
Introducing a signature scent aligns with a growing trend among airlines to enhance the sensory experience of their passengers. Personalized touches like unique fragrances are seen as a way to create a memorable atmosphere, particularly for business class travelers who frequent premium lounges.
By incorporating a carefully crafted scent, Air France adds another layer to its lounge experience, making it not just a place to relax but also an environment designed to evoke a sense of comfort and refinement before takeoff.
What’s Next?
As AF001 makes its way to more lounges worldwide, business travelers and premium passengers can look forward to a multi-sensory journey with Air France. From its exclusive fragrance to upcoming cabin upgrades, the airline continues to focus on enhancing its appeal to the high-end traveler.
