Navigate the Skies with Premium Travel InsightsSingapore Airlines Expands Brisbane Services to Pre-Pandemic Levels
Jan 17, 2025Travelers planning trips to Queensland will soon enjoy greater flexibility as Singapore Airlines (SIA) reinstates its fourth daily service to Brisbane. Starting June 16, 2025, the airline will operate 28 flights weekly between Singapore and Brisbane, marking a significant milestone for the route's recovery to pre-pandemic capacity levels.
Increased Connectivity for Queensland
The additional flights promise to enhance connectivity for Queensland’s tourism and trade sectors. Brisbane’s international terminal recently experienced record-breaking passenger numbers, with 631,510 travelers passing through in December 2024, a 17.7% increase from the previous year. The last time international traffic approached this level was January 2020, just before the pandemic’s impact.
The new service schedule will see flights added on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Utilizing the Airbus A350-900, passengers can expect enhanced comfort and seamless connections via Singapore’s Changi Airport, a major global transit hub.
Flight Schedule and Details
The additional flights will follow this schedule:
- Flight SQ265: Departs Singapore Changi Airport at 07:10 local time, arriving in Brisbane at 16:45.
- Flight SQ266: Departs Brisbane at 18:10, landing in Singapore at 00:10 the following day.
These expanded services cater to both leisure and business travelers, providing more options for those connecting to other destinations in Asia, Europe, and beyond.
A Boost for Tourism and Trade
The reinstatement of full service is expected to benefit Queensland’s economy by facilitating the flow of international visitors and supporting exporters. The Singapore-Brisbane route is a critical link, especially for travelers from Asia and Europe. Notably, more than half of all visitors from India to Brisbane in 2024 traveled via Singapore Airlines.
While the airline’s increased capacity underscores its commitment to the region, it also highlights Brisbane’s growing appeal as a destination and gateway to Australia’s attractions.
The Bigger Picture
The aviation sector’s recovery has seen major routes gradually return to pre-pandemic levels, with airlines expanding operations to meet rising demand. For passengers, this means more travel options, better connections, and greater convenience.
As global travel continues to rebound, the added services by Singapore Airlines reaffirm the vital role Brisbane plays in international tourism and trade, while offering travelers increased flexibility and accessibility.
This development reflects broader trends in the aviation industry, with airlines focusing on strengthening key routes to align with rising passenger demand and regional growth opportunities.
