Navigate the Skies with Premium Travel InsightsEtihad Doubles Flights to Nairobi, Strengthens African Network
Apr 24, 2025
Etihad Airways is accelerating its African expansion with the announcement of double-daily flights to Nairobi, marking a substantial growth in its presence across the continent. Starting December 15, 2025, the route will operate 14 times weekly—less than a year after Etihad resumed service to the Kenyan capital.
This move underscores the airline’s deepening commitment to Africa’s growing travel demand. Nairobi, often referred to as the "Green City in the Sun," is a cosmopolitan hub that balances urban sophistication with access to Kenya’s most iconic wildlife experiences—offering travelers the unique opportunity to spot giraffes and rhinos just minutes from downtown.
But Nairobi isn’t the only African destination on Etihad’s radar.

Etihad is also boosting connectivity to other key markets. In partnership with Air Seychelles, it will offer six weekly flights to Mahé starting May 2025. From there, travelers can connect to idyllic island getaways such as Praslin and Mauritius.
Additionally, daily Boeing 787 Dreamliner services to Casablanca and Johannesburg are being introduced, offering a refined onboard experience for travelers heading to North and Southern Africa.
The airline is also enhancing cooperation with Ethiopian Airlines. Their joint venture and expanded codeshare network unlock greater access between Africa, the Middle East, and Asia—an ideal solution for business and leisure travelers seeking seamless long-haul connections.

Etihad's Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer, Arik De, highlights this strategy as part of a broader ambition: “Together with Ethiopian Airlines and Air Seychelles, we are creating a network that offers travelers unmatched connectivity and comfort across Africa and beyond.”
As of December 2025, Etihad’s African footprint will be significantly larger than a year prior—cementing the airline as a key player for high-end travel to and from the continent.
