Navigate the Skies with Premium Travel InsightsLOT Polish Airlines Expands Transatlantic Flights, Dropping Budapest-Seoul Route
Feb 06, 2025LOT Polish Airlines is strengthening its North American presence for the summer of 2025 by increasing flights to the United States and Canada while discontinuing its only long-haul route that does not touch Poland: Budapest to Seoul. This strategic move allows the airline to reallocate aircraft to its high-demand transatlantic routes, ensuring more frequent and reliable service for travelers flying between Poland and North America.
Record-High Transatlantic Flight Schedule for Summer 2025
According to airline industry data, LOT Polish Airlines is set to operate 788 one-way flights between Poland and North America during the third quarter of 2025 (July-September). This marks a nearly 3% increase over the previous record set in 2019 . On average, this translates to nine daily departures from Poland to major North American cities, offering more options and better connections for travelers.
The airline’s long-haul fleet, consisting primarily of Boeing 787 Dreamliners (787-8 and 787-9 variants) , will be supplemented by a wet-leased Boeing 777-200ER to help accommodate increased demand. The Dreamliner’s state-of-the-art cabin design ensures a more comfortable and fuel-efficient journey , with lie-flat seats in Business Class, spacious Premium Economy seating, and ergonomic Economy Class options.

Expanded Routes and Increased Frequencies
LOT Polish Airlines will continue to serve key Polish and North American destinations , with some routes receiving additional frequencies to meet demand:
- Warsaw – New York JFK: 2x daily (up from 10 weekly in 2019)
- Warsaw – Toronto: 2x daily (up from 12 weekly)
- Warsaw – Chicago O’Hare: 10 weekly (slightly reduced)
- Warsaw – Los Angeles: Daily (unchanged)
- Warsaw – Newark: 5x weekly (unchanged)
- Kraków – Chicago O’Hare: 4x weekly (up from 3 weekly)
- Warsaw – Miami: 4x weekly (unchanged)
- Kraków – Newark: Weekly (unchanged)
- Rzeszów – Newark: Weekly (unchanged)

With Ukraine International Airlines and Aeroflot no longer operating in this region, LOT Polish Airlines now controls two-thirds of all non-stop flights between Central and Eastern Europe and North America , significantly increasing its market share from just one-third in 2019.

LOT Polish Airlines remains a popular choice for travelers between Europe and North America due to its convenient schedules, premium service, and strong connectivity via Warsaw Chopin Airport . According to booking data from the past year, 44% of passengers flying LOT Polish Airlines between North America and Warsaw traveled directly , while 51% connected onward to another destination. The airline’s strategic position allows it to capitalize on underserved markets, offering seamless connections for travelers flying between Canada and India, the U.S. and Lithuania, and even the U.S. and Hungary .

For example, the top long-haul transit routes via Warsaw include:
- Toronto to Delhi
- Los Angeles to Yerevan
- New York JFK to Budapest
